0.1 PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
Once your session is booked you will receive a confirmation email containing all of the important details for your session. This includes date and meet time, location information and everything to be expected leading up to the day.
My intention for the entire process is to feel seamless and thoughtfully guided from beginning to end. Throughout the lead up I am here to assist with any questions you may have. I understand being in front of the camera can sometimes feel unfamiliar, however I can reassure you you do not need to worry about knowing how to pose or what to do. Every session is approached gently and naturally, allowing space for connection, emotion and beautiful moments to unfold naturally.
The best sessions happen when you arrive feeling relaxed, nourished and present. I always encourage clients to take the morning slowly where possible and allow for plenty of time to get ready without feeling rushed. I recommend bringing along water and light snacks, especially for outdoor sessions or if you have little ones attending. Also anything that helps you feel supported such as comfortable shoes for walking between locations, a robe or any small touch up items you may like to keep on hand. For families with children comfort items such as a dummy, small toy or comfort item often helps little ones with settling in.
I recommend arriving with clean, neutral-toned undergarments where possible and loose clothing to avoid any clothing lines on the skin.
Most importantly, trust the process and allow yourself to simply be in the moment.
CLIENT WARDROBE
If you prefer to organise your own outfits for the session, I recommend selecting outfits that feel soft and natural. Neutral tones always photograph best - such as warm creams, earthy hues, soft whites and muted, tonal shades that complement rather than compete with the environment. Try to avoid bold prints or logos or overly bright colours as these can detract from the timeless and refined aesthetic of your gallery.
0.2 THE EXPERIENCE
From the moment you arrive, I want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. We'll ease into the session slowly to allow time for settling in, go through the outfits, chat about the vision and ensue you feel ready before we begin.
Throughout the session I will gently guide you through a combination of both natural and intentional posing to create imagery that feels refined, connected and natural all at once. You do not need to worry or know how to pose, I will direct you every step of the way. I simply encourage you to trust my creative process and stay open to trying different poses and prompts so you can embrace the session to its fullest.
Most sessions run for approximately 1-2 hours, allowing us plenty of time so the experience feels relaxed and unhurried.
0.3 VIEWING YOUR GALLERY
After our session together, you can expect to receive your viewing gallery within 4 weeks to make your final selections. During the retouching process, each image is carefully retouched in my signature style which includes subtle skin smoothing as well as the removal of temporary blemishes or distractions while still maintaining a natural finish. This level of refinement is part of my standard process to ensure your images feel polished yet beautifully authentic.
Your photographs will be professionally retouched with high quality printing in mind. For the best possible results when printing, I highly recommend ordering directly through the gallery store. This ensures your images are printed using professional colour-managed labs that accurately reproduce the tones, colours and detail intended in your final work.
Please avoid printing through retailers such as Kmart or Office Works. These printers often use different colour profiles and lower quality print processes, which can result in images appearing darker, flatter or loss of detail/sharpness.
If you prefer to print elsewhere, I recommend using a professional photo lab such as:
- Atkins Lab
- Prolab Australia
- Image Science
- The Print Shop
